Quick Rolled Oats
Directions for use
Stovetop: Gradually stir oats into boiling, salted water. Cook over low heat for approximately 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and remove from heat. Let stand for a few minutes, then enjoy.
Microwave: For 1 serving gradually stir oats into cold, salted water. Heat uncovered on high power for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 minutes. Stir for 1 minute. Let stand for 1 minute, then enjoy.

Water 3/4 cup (175 ml)
Oats 1/3 cup
For 4 servings Water 3 cups (750 ml)
Salt(optional) 3/4 tsp(3ml)
Oats 1 1/3 cups
Enjoy as a healthy and convenient breakfast cereal. Or mix oats into your breads, muffins, cookies, bars and granolas for added fibre and a chewy texture.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Points of Interest
Quick rolled oats are a great alternative to your favourite oatmeal. They are not pre-cooked but rather the grains are cut into pieces and rolled thinner than regular rolled oats, allowing them to be cooked quickly when added to warm water, milk or other cooking liquid. Because they have not been pre-cooked, quick rolled oats are also more nutritious compared to instant oats (which have been cooked and dehydrated).
Oats are an excellent source of dietary fibre and protein as well as other valuable nutrients. The convenience and health benefits of quick rolled oats makes it a perfect choice as a breakfast cereal. Quick rolled oats are also preferred in cookies and other baked goods and dishes with short cooking times such as pancakes and waffles, as the quick oats will fully cook through.
