    soak rice in cold water for 30 minutes. rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. add rice to a tall pot with 2 cups of cold water for every cup of rice. add 1 tsp. of salt and 1 tbsp. of butter for every cup of rice. bring to a boil; once boiling, reduce to low simmer and cover for about 20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed. remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. lightly fluff grains with a fork.
