Maple Butter Tart Bars
Ingredients
1 1/4 cup + 1 tsp all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup pecan pieces
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup unsalted butter (3/4 cup room temp. + 1/4 cup melted.)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup + 3/4 cup brown sugar
Base Layer Ingredients:
3/4 cup room temp unsalted butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Filling Ingredients:
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup pecan pieces
1 tsp all-purpose flour
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
2 large eggs
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Add 3/4 cup butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 1/4 cup flour into a mixer. With a paddle attachment, mix together on medium speed until dough looks crumbly.
Remove from bowl and evenly press into a 9"x9" baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
While the base is baking, make the top layer.
Into a mixing bowl add 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 1/2 cups dried cranberries, 1/2 cup pecan pieces, 1 tsp flour, and 1 tsp baking powder.
Stir in the 1/4 cup melted butter and the 2 eggs until everything is fully incorporated.
Pour mixture on top of the freshly baked base layer. Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and let cool completely before cutting.
