    bring 2 1/2 cups (500ml) of water with 1 tsp. (5ml.) of salt to boil. stir in 1 cup (225ml) of scented rice and 1 tbsp. (15ml) of butter or margarine, cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes. remove from heat and let stand while covered, until all water is absorbed (about 5 minutes). for softer rice use more water. for firmer rice use less water. makes 4-6 servings.
