    rinse rice. add 1 cup rice mix to 2 1/2 cups boiling water in uncovered pot. bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer 35 to 45 minutes or until water has been absorbed. remove from heat, fluff with fork and serve.

    for firmer rice: less water, shorter cooking time.

    for tender rice: more water, longer cooking time.

    for added flavour season with chicken or beef base.
